Working out with a partner is better, unless you are highly motivated and already accelerating toward your goals.

It's just a matter of finding the "right one" who's equally committed to the process.

I think it totally depends on finding the right fit. You both have to be on the same page and be as dedicated.

It is beneficial because you push each other and motivate each other to actually go to the gym and push yourself.

I do have a workout buddy. Hes a friend of mines little brother. He wanted a six pack, so i showed him now. I only have a nicely toned abdominal region, and he has a friggin 8 pack... Hes much weaker than me since hes only 14 and runs track, but he can put up oppressive numbers. He can keep up with me and doesnt bogg me down...I prefer to workout alone. If i need a spot, i ask someone.

I just wrote about this recently. It has to be the right fit or it will not work for me. Check out my blog.

I agree,
You also forgot one of the most important benefits - having a spotter.

Having someone there to spot you can help you push through and lift heavier weights. You never have to fear not being able to get the last rep up, now you can go for it!

I prefer to workout with a partner. There are a number of benefits:

• Having someone training with you can help to encourage you
• On those days where you may not feel like going to the gym, having someone to go with can help to spur you on. Arranging to meet someone there makes you accountable to them as well as yourself, which can sometimes be the encouragement needed to not ‘skip’ a session. Feeling you are accountable to someone else can act as a great motivator
• A partner can help you to take necessary breaks in your session; simply stopping for a drink of water and a quick chat can help you work out more effectively. What’s more, you never need to worry about losing your machine when your training buddy is around!!
• Going to the gym with a friend or colleague adds a social element to your sessions.
• Having a partner with similar fitness levels and aspirations can create a degree of competition to your training as you both strive to reach your goals. This type of training relationship can be a highly successful tool for successful training, as you drive each other on towards your targets.
