First, lets discuss the nutritional benefits of V8 to a bodybuilder. Vegetables (V8 is vegetable juice) help strengthen your immune system and provide stable energy levels throughout the day.

They are also high in fiber, an element that is often lacking in bodybuilders' diets. Fiber helps slow the absorption of carbohydrates, thereby creating more stable levels of energy. Also, fiber aids in the absorption of amino acids, which I am sure you are getting plenty of through protein.

Micronutrients are also important, as you are exercising your body is demanding more vitamins and minerals. Your multi is going to help, but it does not replace whole food sources.

I have also heard that vegetables can help convert the acidic environment created by most bodybuilding diets to more basic (and optimum for muscle growth).

One concern of V8 is the high sodium levels. There is also a low sodium version, but either way I would not be concerned. As an active person, your body has increased demands for sodium, with heavy weight training the amount required goes up.

I do not see much of a benefit having it immediately after working out. As others have said, it seems that you are consuming plenty afterwards already! I would still have it during the day, but you may actually see more benefits by having it at another time with a less nutritional meal.

I never have had a V8. If it has sugar in it, I would keep it post workout. A blood sugar spike after a workout is a good thing. I have been eating gummie bears. If it does not have sugar, eat gummie bears. When the blood sugar rises, It forces a rise in insulin within the body. Post workout, insulin is soaked up by the muscles, and glycogen levels are replenished and the muscle repairs faster and more efficiently. I would not take the multi V after a workout, I would in the mourning. Too musch supplementation after a workout is no good for you either, and you want the multi V to affect the whole body, not the hungry muscles you just tore up.
